Trapped

She closes her eyes and takes another sip of the devils lure
she prays, she cries yet her eyes deny.
With enough drinks in her system she scours for a cure
to the hopeless destitution that has eaten her alive.
The demon that mocks her rests just inside her heart
and the lies she speak entangle her words, like a puppet on a string.
With every sip, her pain fades away, like melted snow in spring
a final release is a dream she seeks, while emptying the bottle once more.
All the things shes done, never quite feed the monsters ravenous hunger
they only expand the beasts horizons and send it lusting for more.
So while constantly on a quest, the inner heart beating true
retains its beautiful illumination.
A light so pure it can wash away all the sins of a woman who is trapped in an alluring snake pit of lamentation.
The dreams once dreamt and the life once led
run down the drain along with the last drops of her whiskey.

The Pain They Caused Her

Her open heart is bleeding, her empty soul is weary
the time in which she spent, and darkened hours grow more dreary.
The scars beneath her skin, resurface once again
youd think the pain they caused her, would fade beneath the open.
Yet the tears that she spends
and the time that wont mend;
it shatters the silence with piercing knives
and opens the eyes of many-a-lives.
To which do we owe this entrapment of love?
A dangerous web with a suffocating glove;
an allurement so gentle it mirrors a dove.
The game that she ponders seems chimerical to most,
but how can that be when the world that she knows
is lost along a hidden coast.
